Rarotonga, known for its lush, dense, tropical rainforest and turquoise lagoon lies 700 miles SE of Tahiti. The island, 20 miles in circumference is perfect for cycling. You can travel around this volcanic island by bike in approximately 2 hours at a leisurely pace, surrounded by beautiful tropical flowers and trees. "Raro" is known for its beaches, diving, hiking and windsurfing, but you won't find a 5-star resort or crowded beaches. Take a tour of its interior and you can explore a dense rainforest between it's high mountain peaks.

Know as the "Jewel of the Pacific," Rarotonga stands 14,750 feet above the Ocean Floor. At a depth of 13,000 feet, the volcano is 31 miles in diameter. The highest peak is 2,140 feet above sea level. The capital city, Avarua, retains the historic charm of a 19th century trading post, yet boasts a large international-size airport with scheduled flights.
